VEGETABLE SHARES
All members of the DUMBO + Vinegar Hill CSA must purchase a Full or Partial Share of vegetables to be eligible for Add-On Shares.
The vegetables are planted by Sang Lee Farms with you in mind so that you get traditional favorites as well as a mix of new and interesting veggies to try each week.
In January 2019, Karen and Fred Lee of Sang Lee Farms were recognized as NOFA NY Farmers of the Year!
This is the first year that Sang Lee Farms changed their available shares based on member feedback. The farm no longer offers bi-weekly shares and instead offers Partial Shares that are also distributed weekly. You have the option to select from a variety of Add-On Shares when Purchasing Shares.
Please refer to Sample Partial Share List or Sample Full Share List so you can get an idea of the quantity and seasonality of vegetables we offer.

Full Share: Feeds an average family of four, or a veggie-loving couple. Usually includes salad veggies, cooking veggies, and flavor add-ons (garlic, onions, herbs, etc). Contains the full diversity & variety of what is possible to grow on Long Island.
Partial Share: Feeds an average family of 2 or a single person. Portions of veggies will be the same as the full share, but just include fewer items. Contains some of the diversity & variety of what is possible to grow on Long Island.
Get 5-12 SEASONAL ORGANIC VEGETABLE ITEMS PER WEEK, HARVESTED 24 HOURS BEFORE DELIVERY.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE FRUIT SHARE
Briermere Farms, located in nearby Riverhead NY, provides fresh local fruit for our fruit share. The farm is not certified organic, however they certainly aim for as little conventional spray as possible given the wet climate of NY. Many organic practices are integrated into the growing program and they produce their own compost as well.
The share has been downsized this season to only 1 bag/box/item per week. The cost is also significantly reduced. Please read through the share contents below CAREFULLY so you understand what fruit CAN grow on Long Island and that week to week you will be getting similar things depending on the time of year. If you do not LOVE apples, we suggest you do not participate in the share as the last month or two is primarily filled with apples.
It is an 18 week share beginning July 11 and ending November 8. There is the possibility that the share will begin sooner, depending on the weather and the timing of the ripening of the fruit. We will contact you if there is any change of starting date.
*You must be a vegetable share member to participate.
FRUIT SHARE CONTENTS BY SEASON
JULY
The share begins with blueberries (1pint), raspberries (1/2pint), gooseberries (1pint) or rhubarb (1 bunch) Each week you will receive 1 of these items.
LATE JULY AND AUGUST
The share offers yellow, white or doughnut peaches, and possibly some plums. Each week you will receive three (3) lbs of peaches or plums.
SEPTEMBER
The share offers apples (in many varieties), pears and sometimes peaches. Each week you will receive three (3) lbs of apples, pears, or peaches.
OCTOBER/November
The share offers apples in many varieties and pears in a few varieties. Each week you will receive three (3) lbs of apples and pears in any combination.
